Change the world through food! This is the slogan of Young Food Change Makers Challenge, the contest inviting students and their teachers to use their imagination, passion and work to generate ideas that address current challenges in the food system. Kicking off on 22 April, the contest aims to improve the health and wellbeing of the school community, learn new skills, create positive change and be part of a Europe-wide movement.
The Young Food Change Makers Challenge is organised by three non-governmental organisations and emphasises student-led projects that are place-based, involve community members and have a real impact. The contest is presented on the project webpage with detailed criteria for activities, topics, ideas, challenges as well as training tools for teachers. The platform also offers a registration form for schools to submit their projects and a designated space to present the challenge results.
In addition to promoting creativity and engagement, the Young Food Change Makers Challenge encourages students to generate ideas that stimulate innovations for a sustainable agri-food value chain in the EU and to apply these ideas within their school communities. At the same time, the contest website provides innovative educational resources, examples of good practice and advice during project implementation.
